He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Beecher Stapleton Sr. and Rebecca Geneva Jacobs Stapleton; and his siblings, Fred Grant Stapleton and Scarlett Jane Stapleton. He is survived by: his sister Donna Goodpaster (Ross) of Gonzales; and his sibling's children, Rhoda Rebecca Goodpaster, Scarlett Jane Stapleton II and Fred Grant Stapleton.

He was several years older than me, and one day over at Central Park, he took up for me when a couple other boys were picking on me. I would have come to his funeral had I known.
