He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth McKenzie; his parents, William Luther and Minnie Kirk McKenzie; his son Donald Joe McKenzie Jr.; and his siblings, Junior, Jack, Edward, Dewey Ray McKenzie, Irene Wellman, Betty Hutchinson, Alfreda Clark and Dorothy McKenzie.

He is survived by: his daughter Mary Jane McKenzie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
