He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas B. Sr. Cole and Edith Beulah Pruitt Cole; his wife Hersie Kendrick Cole; and his brothers, James Cole and Delbert Randall Cole.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Cole (Debbie) of Ashland and Beverly Cole Simmons (Gary) of Fort Myers, Florida; his grandchildren, Quinn Cole, Cole Erickson (Elissa) and Jacob Erickson (Stephanie); his great grandchildren, Colette, Celia, Oliver, Emery and Jacoby; and his sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Cole of Ceredo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel (3409 13th St, Ashland, KY 41101). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cannonsburg Trinity Community Church, 11620 Midland Trail Road, Ashland, KY 41102.
