He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L. Gainer and Madge "Tootsie" Burkhammer Gainer of Virginia; his former wife Dianne Gainer; his son Scott Patrick Gainer; his siblings, David Lee Gainer and Melanie Gainer; and his pet Sophie Mae.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Cignoni Layne Gainer of Ashland; his children, Christopher Alan Gainer of Ironton, Meredith Ann Gainer of Louisville, KY and Lisa Rene Gainer of Ashland; his stepson Tom Layne of Ashland; his brother Rodney Gainer of Florida; and his grandchildren, Hayley Layne, Brandon Layne, Samantha Gainer, Alex Gainer and Adam Curley. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
