He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Helms and Ida Gray MacDonald; his wife Jeanenne Rose Helms; his sisters, Mona "Sis" Helms and Betty Lou Angel; his niece Charlotte "Cindy" Helms; his daughters-in-law, Rebecca Lynn Hickman and Jo Alice Hickman; and his grandparents, Payntor and Myrtle Helms.
He is survived by: his son Paul Hickman; his grandchildren, April Hobbs and D. J. Hickman; his niece Alice Helms; and his great-nephew Evan Helms. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
