He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Hanshaw and Cordilla Hammonds Hanshaw; his siblings, David Hanshaw, Don Hanshaw, Curtis Hanshaw, Billy Paul Hanshaw, Rethal Hanshaw Smith, Nancy Hanshaw Davidson and Dilla Hanshaw Garner; and his sister-in-law Rosalie Johnson.
He is survived by: his brother Burton; his wife Leona Johnson Hanshaw; his sons, Charles Edward Hanshaw (Sandy), Tom Hanshaw (Mindy) and William "Bill" Hall (Cindy); his sister Sarah Meyers (Jennifer Walsh Tietje); and his brother-in-law Nelson Johnson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
