He is survived by: his wife Jeannie Akers Nelson; his children, Heather Coleman (Randy) and Wesley Nelson (Bobby); his grandchildren, Bryson Nelson Coleman, Brooklynn Estelle Coleman, Jasper Dean Nelson, Cecil Ray Nelson and Sophia Jeanne Nelson; and his siblings, Tommy Nelson (Earleen), Ricky Nelson (Sondra), Dotty Layne (Doug), Betty Newman and Rita Howell (Charles). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Hall Funeral Home (331 KY-122, Martin, KY 41649). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at the Akers Family Cemetery.
