He was predeceased by: his parents, John Willie and Maggie L. Vaughn Nelson; his children, Eric Dean Nelson and Angela Ann Nelson; his siblings, James, Ronnie, Donnie, Bill-Jay Nelson, Martha Waldon, Wanda Hubbard and Zelma Nelson; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Sue Nelson, Gill Waldon and Eddie Hubbard.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Gray Nelson of Barbourville; his children, Lashon Nelson Roach (Randall) of Gray and Marsha Nelson Grace of Barbourville; his brother Leroy Nelson of Artemus; his grandchildren, Tessa Bargo (Gary), Dylan May (Destiny), Alex Grace (Josie), Jaycee Grace (Evan Maxie), Haylee Helton, Dylan Roach (Kristina) and Andrew Roach (Katie); and his great grandchildren, Charity Bargo, Crisalynn Bargo, Memphis May, Casen Bargo, Harley May, Damien, Darren and Waylon Roach.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the God's Temple Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the funeral home to assist with his funeral expenses.
