He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Elmer Metcalf and Mary Lee Bradley Metcalf; his wife Rhoda Della Nalley Metcalf; and his siblings, Joseph Elmer Metcalf, Jr., Juanita Donahue, Caroline Lanier and Anna Marie Burgher.
He is survived by: his children, Henry "Buck" Metcalf (Sharon), Alan Metcalf (Wendy), Angela Metcalf Krause, Thomas Metcalf, Brodie Metcalf Todd Metcalf (Cindy) and Rhoda Metcalf Dillon. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
