He was predeceased by: his parents, James Spalding and Mae Louise "Mazie" Harris Elder; and his sister Virginia Katherine. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Clark Elder; his children, Leah Edelen (Stevie) of Bardstown, Anna Rogers (Harrison) of Bardstown, Matt Elder (Tara) of Bardstown and Michael Elder of Holy Cross; his siblings, Dawn Bowling (Wally) of Fairfield, Danette "Cookie" Barnes (David) of Bardstown, Dee Ann Crush (Joe) of Louisville, Kim Hile (Steve) of Louisville, Beth Neltner (David) of Louisville and Doug Elder (Lisa) of Bardstown; and his grandchildren, Steven, Grant, Carter Edelen, Olivia, Hadley, Beckett and Knox Elder.
