He was predeceased by : his parents, Owen Thurman and Carlene Loveland Thurman; his wife Betty Jo Wilson Thurman; his daughter Cindy Thurman; and his siblings, Martha Cahoe, Kathleen Faulkner, Gonda Thompson, Mary Thurman, Lina Cundiff, Jim and Larry Thurman.

He is survived by : his children, Bill Thurman (Donna), Kenny Thurman (Sandy), Michael Thurman (Lisa) and Patty Martin (David) of Bardstown; and his siblings, Carolyn Downs, Kathy Spalding and Joe Thurman of Bardstown. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home & Cremation Services (1475 New Shepherdsville Rd, Bardstown, KY 40004). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Gregrory Catholic Church (Hwy 509 & S. R. 245, Cox's Creek, KY 40013).
