He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Simmons and Bertha Gustine Burgett Simmons; his wives, Betty Waters Simmons and Dorothy Ailene Highbaugh Simmons; his son Richard Paul Simmons; and his siblings, Willard, Jerry, Bill Simmons, Ruth Klapper and Annette Arnold.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Scott Simmons (Annette), Mike Miller, Jacki Curtsinger (Billy), Shirley Wilson, Teresa McEwen (Doug) and Honey Blatz; and his siblings, Johnny Simmons (Judy) and Betty Sue Dallas (Hollis). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
