He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Marie Higdon Mattingly; his parents, Joseph Lee and Mary Alice Miles Mattingy; his siblings, Effie Lee Mattingly, Lucille Thompson, Viola Mattingly, James Delmar Mattingly and James William "Billy" Mattingly; and his grandson Michael Hamilton.
He is survived by: his children, Richie Mattingly (Tina) of Bradfordsville, Gina Garrett of Lebanon, Russell Mattingly (Becky) of Saint Joe, Kerry Mattingly (Gloria) of Springfield, Craig Mattingly (Jackie) of Loretto, Becca Hamilton (Curtis) of Fredricktown and Dale Mattingly of Saint Francis. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
