He was predeceased by: his parents, Linsay Cowan and Pearl Cowan (Bryant); his stepson Terry Helm; and his son Tony Sallee. He is survived by: his wife Lydia Richmond; his sons, Steve Cowan of Columbus, Scott Cowan of Campbellsville and Ronald Cowan of Bedford; his stepson Timothy Helm (Brandy) of Bedford; and his sister Magdeline Orberson of Gravel Switch, Kentucky. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
