He was predeceased by: his parents, Tolbert McCoy and Cora Nunnery McCoy; his wife Nancy Stratton McCoy; his siblings, Luther McCoy, Tolbert McCoy Jr., Henry McCoy, Thomas McCoy, Maybelene McCoy Maynard and Vada Elkins; and his granddaughter Darcie McCoy.
He is survived by: his children, Ernie McCoy (Christina), John McCoy (Kara), Delann Wheeler (Mark), Angela McCoy and Genie McCoy; and his sister Pearlie Cryder. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving friends and family.
