He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Whitehead and Blanche Carolyn Whitehead of Bellevue, Kentucky.; his daughter Bridget Whitehead MD; his former wife Maureen Cole; his stepsiblings, Leah Jones, Toni Weitkamp, John, Chris and Dale Simmons; and his siblings-in-law, Luke Barr MD, Walter, Hally Barr and Mary Massa MD. He was also cherished by many loving in-laws, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to "Team Gleason Foundation" which supports patients with ALS.
