He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Denny and Bonnie Hacker Denny; his wife Phyllis Denny; his son Alonzo Denny; and his siblings, Eddie Lee Denny, Betty Denny, Sudie Denny, Bonita Powell and Freeman Denny.
He is survived by: his son Johnny R. Denny II (Marie) of Berea, Kentucky; his sister Julie Hale of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Johnny Denny III (Maria), Eddie Lee Denny (Kaylee), Brittany Hensley (Austin Napier) and Sheena Ballard; and his great grandchildren, Ariella Denny, Parley Denny, Brynleigh Napier, Pazlee Ballard, Zoey Ballard and William Ballard.
