He was predeceased by : his father Dink Powell; and his siblings, Salem Jakey Powell, Dink Powell, Jr., Eugene Powell, Virginia Robinson and Wanda VanWinkle.

He is survived by : his daughters, Shelly Clemmons (John) and Carlie Rose (Mathew Edwards); his grandchildren, Dawn Durham, Dillion Gooch, Austin Blakeman, Tyler Ward, Lauren Ray, Jonna Clemmons, Adrianna Clemmons, Mary Nicole Collett and Kaylie Edwards; and his sister Judy Parker. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
