He was predeceased by: his father Glenn Melvin; his wife Judy Long Shaw; and his son Gary Melvin Shaw. He is survived by: his children, Rouchelle Mireles (Lawrence) of Sodus Point, NY., Diane Thompson of Bardstown, Debbie Winstel (John) of Shepherdsville, Angela Shaw of Belleville, MI. and William Shaw (Sethileen) of Boise, ID.; and his brother Glenn Shaw (Patti) of Canton, MI.. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
