He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman Ockerman and Connie Armstrong Ockerman; his former wife Glenna Ockerman; his daughter Debbie Tichenor; his grandson Brian Tichenor; and his great grandchild Laylie Gale Tichenor.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherry Higdon (Dean) of Louisville, Jo Carol Stephens (Kevin) of Bloomfield and Wendy Lewis (Jeff) of Bloomfield; his siblings, Jack Ockerman, Alice Tingle and Billy Joe Ockerman; and his wife Dawn Roberts. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Barlow Funeral Home (2675 E John Rowan Blvd, Bardstown, KY 40004). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be sent to Greens Chapel United Methodist Church: C/O Sandy Hawkins, Treasurer, P.O. Box 139, Chaplin, Kentucky 40012.
