He was predeceased by: his former wife Judy Ellis (Beecher); his parents, James Franklin and Thula Virginia Ellis (Shrum); and his siblings, Brenda Ellis, Paul Ellis, George Ellis and Marie Toole.
He is survived by: his children, Lori Stevens (James) of Franklin, KY., Jamin Ellis (Melinda) of Phenix City, AL., Mark Ellis of Madisonville, KY. and Kachina Lopez (David) of Franklin, KY.; his stepdaughters, MaLissa Lack (Justin) and LaTrisha Lawrence (Charles); his daughter-in-law Jennifer Ellis; his sisters, Marilyn Beebe, Charlene Brinson and Lois Redus; and his grandchildren, Nathan, Caleb, Jared, Tabitha, Judah, Josiah, Abel, Charles and Molly. He is also survived by nine step-grandchildren and one step great-grandson.
