He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy Rainwater Hayes; his daughter Kimberly Castor; his parents, Herbert Hayes and Kate Hayes; and his brother Robert.

He is survived by: his son James Hayes; his grandsons, Robert Eugene Castor III and Andrew Castor; and his sisters, Louise, Lydia, Jenny, Agnes and Libby.

His contributions to his family and community were profound, and he leaves behind cherished memories that will be carried forward by those who loved him.
