He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Herron and Beatrice Lou Doyle Herron; and his brothers, Joe, Alan and Carson Herron.

He is survived by: his wife Pat Sloan Herron; his sons, Eric Herron and Jason Herron (Amanda); his sister Betty Bruner (Leroy); his grandchildren, Kenzie and Kaelie Herron; and his aunt Virginia McCoy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or Mobile Grocery of Bowling Green.
