He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Richards; and his daughter Ann Waggener Richards. He is survived by: his parent Demaree Richards; his wife Annette Richards; his children, Steve Richards (Cindy) and Missy Renfro (Mike); his grandchildren, Curtis Richards, Casey Richards, Audrey Richards, Clayton Richards and TJ Renfro (Anna); his great grandchild Ruth Ann Renfro; and his stepgrandsons, Lincoln and Collin Gay. He is also survived by his brother.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Western Kentucky University (1906 College Heights Blvd, Bowling Green, KY 42101). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jim's honor to the Ann Waggener Memorial Scholarship at Western Kentucky University, in memory of his beloved daughter and in support of future generations of Hilltoppers.
