He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis Grinstead and Annie Moulder Grinstead; and his sisters, Mary Dennis, Perlina Phillips, Vivian Askren and Clara Bailey.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Grinstead, Ashlee McCoy and Emilee Dru Davidson; his significant other Sue McCoy Kitchens; and his grandson Matthew-Jon Kitchens.
