He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. McDavitt and Gladys Chaffin McDavitt; his brother Gordon McDavitt; and his granddaughter Elizabeth Eaden McDavitt. He is survived by: his wife Barbara McDavitt; his children, Crystal Gregory (Kevin), James Scott McDavitt (Megan) and Julia Marie Wheatley; his grandchildren, Ryan Gregory, Drew Gregory, Stella McDavitt, Emma McDavitt, Jackson Wheatley, Nathaniel Wheatley and Sophie Wheatley; and his siblings, Wayne McDavitt (June), Carol Hinton (Larry), Elaine Bandy (Richard) and Roselle Watt. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
