He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. VanNorman and Mayme L. Griffee; and his brother Kenneth. He is survived by: his wife Beverly J. VanNorman (Lile); his children, Kathi Wilson (Daniel) and David W. VanNorman; his cousin Sharlee McDonald (VanNorman); his grandchildren, Anthony Wilson (Tatyana) and Whitney Wilson; and his great grandchildren, Alex Williams, Maia, Naomi, Isaac Wilson and Ariana Pearson.

“I remember Donnie. My mom was Elizabeth Young. Her mom was Elsie VanNorman. Some of my best memories are of visits to West Point KY to stay with mom's relatives when I was a Pre-Schooler (early 1950s). I believe that in the mid 1970s while I was serving in the Army at Ft. Knox, I visited Donnie and Beverly at their home. It was the first time I ever had fried green tomatoes for lunch. Great Memories. I wish there more.”
