He is survived by : his wife Leva L. Hughes; his children, Marie Murphy, Eugene Thomas and Amber Hughes; his grandsons, Jason Murphy and Abel Thomas; and his siblings, Terri Hughes, David Hughes, Robbie Hughes and Gregg Hughes. He is also survived by extended family friends.

The military honors was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160).
