He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Wise and Nell Wise; and his sister Cathie W. Downs. He is survived by: his siblings, Laurie Roberts and Jesophowich Wise; his niece Carrie Downs; his nephews, Davey Downs, Noah Ginn and Josh Ginn; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Myla Downs-Perry, Adrienne Downs-Perry, A. P. Perry, Ty Downs and Malachi Ginn.

In the latter years of his mother's life she developed Alzheimer's and he was totally devoted to her care.
