He was predeceased by: his adoptive father Joseph William Hopkins; and his brothers, Bobby Claypool and Theron Hopkins. He is survived by: his wife Susan Raye Hopkins; his adoptive mother Jacqueline McMurrin (Phillip); his sisters, Melissa Cooney (David), Debora McGlothin (Jeff), Tessa Lemons and Tiffany Hopkins; and his children, Brittany Speier (Chris), Daniel Burton (Felicia), Heather White (Donnie), Troy Florence (Grace), Kayleana Florence and Trent Hopkins. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Concord Methodist Church (3293 Bladeston Dr, Brooksville, KY 41004).
