She was predeceased by : her parents, McDaniel Purcell and Dorothy Purcell; her former life partner James D. Atkinson Jr.; her son James Halbert Atkinson; and her sister Elizabeth Prejean.

She is survived by : her daughter Juliet Phelps (Terry); her grandson James Phelps; her niece Margaret Prejean; and her nephews, Tom and Charles Prejean.
