With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Darrel Ray Whitt of Calhoun, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 22, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Darrel has departed this earthly realm, his legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May his spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Callahan Whitt and Wilma Lee Whitt (Jones); his wife Wanda Delores Whitt (McDonald); and his grandson Jacob Whitt. He is survived by: his children, Keith Whitt (Deanie) and Pam Browning (Ricky); and his grandchildren, Dr. Josh Whitt (Meagan) and Deidra McElwain. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel (226 E Washington St, Oakland City, IN 47660). A graveside service was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Norton Children's Hospital located at 231 E Chestnut St., Louisville, KY 40202.
