He was predeceased by: his parents, William Roscoe and Gladys Haynes Howard Abney. He is survived by: his former wife Mary Earlene Clements; his wife Earlene Abney; his children, Rob Abney (Kate) of Stamping Grounds, Greg Abney (Sherry) of Utica, Nic Abney (Amanda) of Red Wing, Minnesota, Cathy Burden (Todd) of Livermore and LeeAnn Starkey (Scott) of Bardstown; his grandchildren, Emily Floyd (Nathan), Joe Abney (Emily), Sam Burden, Jenny Payne (Will), Maggie Rolince (Chris), Elijah Starkey, Sarah Starkey, Simon Starkey, Mason Abney, Lincoln Abney, Reese Abney, Jackson Abney, Lillian Abney, Bradley Abney and Estelle Abney; and his siblings, Russell Abney (Charlene) of Florida, Norman Abney (Candy) of North Carolina, Betty Gray (Lourde) of Princeton, Debby Blus (Alan) of Calhoun and Judy McCart (Johnny) of Georgia. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the St. Sebastian Catholic Church (180 KY-136, Calhoun, KY 42327). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, August 19th 2026 at the St. Anthony Cemetery (261 St Anthony Rd, Utica, KY 42376).
