He was predeceased by: his father Robert Appel. He is survived by: his mother Beverly Baumann Appel; his wife Shawne Litzler Appel; and his siblings, Robert Appel Jr. (Peggy), John Appel, David Appel (Gina), Jim Appel (Andi), Mike Appel (Melanie) and Mary Lou Lewis (Stuart).
