He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Hardwrick Shields; his parents, Melvin Shields and Nancy Morris Shields; his siblings, Linda Cornett, Gayle Sparks, Jo Ellen Hobbs, Lisa May, Eugene, Terry, Milton and Stanley Shields; and his son-in-law David Stanhope.
He is survived by: his children, Tara Shields, Thereasa Shields and Travis Shields (Samantha French); his sisters, Judy Fuller and Vickie Perez; his grandchildren, Ryan Stoker, Brandon Stoker (Emerson), Tanner Sapp (Autumn), Westlee Sapp, Skyler, Tori Shields, Mya and Rori Mitchell; and his great grandchildren, Dawson Myers, Harlynn, Cohen, Wren Stoker, Isabella Stoker and Taelynn Sapp.
