He was predeceased by : his wife Peggy Fishback Stockdale; his parents, Stanley F. Stockdale Sr. and Mary Cotton Stockdale; and his siblings, Emma Jean Cossairt, Mary Frances Schaum, Margaret Inderhees, Della Jennings, Stanley F. "Bud" Stockdale and Lawrence Stockdale.

He is survived by : his sister Louise Fitzpatrick of Carrollton, KY.; and his granddaughters, Jenna Sue Burns (Christopher) and Jessica Lawson (Tyler).
