He was predeceased by: his parents, John M. Brown and Lillie Dalton Brown; his wife Cora L. Wechsler Brown; and his siblings, Molly Brown, Margaret Brown, Hazel Giles, Blanch Miller, Mertie Shumway, Billie Chaffins, Enoch Brown, Milton, Ed Brown, Tom Brown and Walter Brown (Jack Brown).

He is survived by: his children, Susan Berkebile (Timothy) of Clermont, FL, Harold Thomas Brown of Catlettsburg, KY and Sandra Roberts (Carl, Jr) of Catlettsburg, KY; his sister Bernice Brown Thompson Walker; Gary Salyers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Due to current restrictions with Covid-19, the family urges friends coming to the visitation to limit their visit, allowing others to visit as well.
