He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Hanking and Lois Mae Hanking; his brothers, Roland, Charles and James Hanking; and his niece Karen Lievers.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Meachum Hanking; his daughters, Lisa Bowden (Kevin) of Cookeville, TN and Susan Vaughn of Franklin, KY; his grandchildren, Joshua Bowden (Jennifer), Bryan Bowden, Amber Daniell, Lauren Vincent (Eric), Madison Bowden Carrigan (Keener), Kaide Vaughn and Taigan Vaughn; his great grandchildren, Zaelynn, Westyn and Paityn Vincent; his grandchildren, Jackson, Andrew Bowden, Rylan, Annalee Solis Daniell and Wailen Vaughn; and his sisters-in-law, Wanda Hanking, Elizabeth Tucker and Faye Diggs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Patton Funeral Home – Cave City Chapel (9315 Happy Valley Rd, Cave City, KY 42127). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
