He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Monroe and Agnes Isabelle Winders Monroe; his siblings, J. C. Monroe, Matthew Monroe and Ann Thornsberry; and his great grandchildren, Conner and Kinley McGehee.
He is survived by: his wife Carlene Monroe of Clifty; his children, Darrel Wendel Monroe (Lisa Page) of Russellville, KY, Marty Monroe of Russellville, KY and Gayla Monroe Mansfield (Alan) of Clifty, KY; and his brothers, Virgil Monroe of Harrodsburg, KY and Alvis Monroe of Allegre, KY. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Latham Funeral Home (413 E Main St, Elkton, KY 42220). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Clifty Park, P.O. Box 62 Clifty, KY 42216.
