He is survived by: his siblings, Vernetta Garmon, Valerie Sims, Thomas Edward Sims, Jr. and Derrick Sims; his nephew Thomas Gerrard Sims; and his niece Michelle Darlene Shaw. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews and cousins.
