He was predeceased by: his wife Margie Cox; and his siblings, James, Christopher, Willie, Samuel Cox Jr., Mossie Johnson, Julie Perkins, Lissie Engle, Ivel Cox and Lillian Robinson.
He is survived by: his sons, Donald Gene (Tammi), Michael Wayne (Ana) and David Asher Cox (Julie); his grandchildren, Brandon Pierce, Ryan Michael, Christian Matthew, Erica Brooke, Jessica Paige and Rebecca Claire Cox; and his sister Edith Cox Lefevers.
