He is survived by: his children, David Pennington (Suzan) of Corbin, Timothy Pennington (Sarah) of Corbin and Louann Lennon (David) of Corbin; his grandchildren, Lindsay Pennington (Tim Mosher) of Los Angeles, Samuel Pennington (Ashlea) of Bowling Green, Chad Lennon (Cara) of Williamsburg, Andrew Pennington (Paige) of Corbin and Ashley Lennon (Brennan Carrithers) of New York City; his great grandchildren, Leonard Dillman, Adler Dillman, Samuel Grant Pennington, Aubrie Rae Pennington, Shepherd Pennington, Enzo Pennington, Iris Pennington and Ember Pennington; and his close friend Sybil Wooten. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
