He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. Cowell and Rosalee Williams Cowell; and his parents-in-law, Hadley and Cheslea Engle. He is survived by: his wife Mary Hadley Cowell of Corbin; his daughter Joy Hart (David) of Corbin; his brother Joe Cowell (Cynthia) of Dyersburg, TN; and his grandson Silas Hart.
