He was predeceased by: his parents, Oakley H. Turner and Lina Trosper Turner; his former wives, Verla Davenport and Velda Brantley; his stepdaughter Betsy Henson; and his siblings, Bobbie Edward Turner, Thomas Paul Turner, James Oakley Turner and Leona Catherine Bunch.
He is survived by: his wife Ernestine Anders Turner; his sons, Raymond Jewell Turner Jr. and Robert Edward Turner (Lori); his sister Naomi Sue Lockaby; and his stepchildren, Lonso Hicks, Sharon Saylor and Sheila Hickes. He is also survived by 52 grandchildren.
