He was predeceased by: his parents, Drew Short and Dovie Short; his wife Ruby Short; his granddaughter Heather Graham; his sisters, Lucille, Betty Jean, Loretta, Nora Faye and Margaret Ann; and his sons-in-law, Edward Johnson, Rob Couch, Michael Lane and Veren Rains.
He is survived by: his children, Virginia Johnson, Pat Couch, Debra Rains, Lois Short and James Short (Joy); and his siblings, Freda, Bobbie, Ron, James (Virginia) and Don (Brenda). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
