He was predeceased by: his son Brett Buchanan; his parents, Archie Buchanan and Lola Dunn Dixon; and his siblings, Eugene, Clifford, Fred Buchanan, Margie Hamby, Rosella Horner and Hazel Saylor.
He is survived by: his wife Vicki Buchanan; his children, Archie Buchanan (Mildred), Sharon Sams (Larry), Debbie Hernandez and Marquette Rende (Steven); and his sisters, Katherine and Helen. He is also survived by 12 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; as well as many friends.
