He was predeceased by: his parents, Eli Belew and Loma Belew; his wife Joyce Belew; and his siblings, Floyd Belew, Clyde Verlin Belew, Ruth Goins and Wanda Miles.

He is survived by: his sons, Walter Belew Jr. of Corbin, Brian Belew of Corbin and Harold Belew of Corbin; and his sister Marge Burton of Texas. He is also survived by three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
