He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Briede and Mabel Briede; and his siblings, Sally, Jim Briede and Mike Briede.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Alice Briede (Stegeman); his children, Joe Briede, Jr., Rick Briede (Chris), Trudy Briede, Andy Briede, Sandy Briede, Ben Briede, Jill Arlinghaus (Dan "Boone"), Jack Briede, Mary Pat Vorseth (Eric), Steve Briede (Meredith), Melinda Botkin (Greg) and Melissa Briede; his siblings, Sue, Jerry Briede and Nancy Collett (Charlie); his sister-in-law Barbara Briede; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Nathaniel, Brian, Amanda, Terri, Danny, Julie, Chloe, Mark, Morgan, Grady, Seth, Mary Kate, Matt and Joey; and his great grandchildren, Madeline, Jacob, Jasmine, Andrew, Elliott, Autumn, Zoey, Allie, Kiyla, Ava, Josie and Kehlani.
