She was predeceased by: her parents, John Brown and Josephine Brown; her husband Arthur "Cookie" Sheffield; her siblings, John Brown Jr., Velma Noguess, Margaruiette Matthews and Viola Dussuau; and her grandchildren, Danson Lee Sheffield, Shana Sherfield, Nassir Carroll and Jaelyn Day.
She is survived by: her children, Arthur A. Sheffield Jr., Kenneth Sheffield (Brenda), Manning Sheffield, Brenda Hall and Crystal Madaris; and her granddaughter Crystal Kenyatta. She is also survived by 19 other grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
