He was predeceased by : his parents, George Everette and Lila Mae Whitworth Smith; and his siblings, Stevie, Duke, Bill, Midge Smith, Ruthie Mumford, Ellen Foster, Rowena Woods and Flossie Burkes.

He is survived by : his wife Sandy Abell Smith; his son Faron McCubbins, Jr. (Tina); his siblings, Ray Smith and Sue Morgan; and his grandchildren, Madeline Paige and Parker Trey McCubbins.
